        i. JAMES "JB" KENNEDY, b. October 08, 1832; d. March 18, 1876.

Generation No. 2

JAMES J. "JB" KENNEDY (THOMAS A.) was born October 08, 1832, and died March 18, 1876. He married ELIZABETH "BETTY" DILLIANN STEELE December 31, 1849 in Marshall County, Tennessee, daughter of AARON STEELE and NANCY DAVIS. She was born October 14, 1833 in Maury County, Tennessee, and died April 07, 1900.

Notes for JAMES "JB" KENNEDY:
About 1850 they moved to Izard County, Arkansas by ox-cart. (Uncle Lex told this story: "After Elizabeth lost her husband 1876, she and the children were going south by wagon train and Indians kept robbing the wagons. She tore up a shirt and wrapped it around the kids faces, slapped them making thier faces red and they were crying. She told the Indians they had the mumps and the Indians let their wagon go on by in a hurry." Elizabeth lived with Jesse B and Louisa until she died.

NANNIE D. KENNEDY (JAMES "JB", THOMAS A.) was born June 08, 1875 in Arkansas. She married SAMUEL GRANT GIFFORD January 04, 1890 in Sharp County, Arkansas, son of WILLIAM GIFFORD and MARY RUMMAGE. He was born November 1868 in Arkansas.

Notes for SAMUEL GRANT GIFFORD:
Sam Gifford was listed in the 1910 Census in Jackson County, Arkansas with Nannie. In 1920 and 1930 Census in Craighead County, Arkansas with Ollie. Was last known to have lived his later days in Humes, Missouri.

Children of NANNIE KENNEDY and SAMUEL GIFFORD is:
     i. LILLIE OVELLA GIFFORD, b. August 29, 1891; d. February 1971; m. NATHANIEL H. PITTS, February 25, 1912, Jackson County, Arkansas; b. June 12, 1880, Elmo, Independence County, Arkansas; d. March 13, 1933, Arkansas.
